The Niners would pick up a few first down and eventually run out the clock after a 55 yard run on third down from Jordan Mason to put the nail in the Seahawks coffin late in the game. The Seattle QB hit his tight end Noah Fant on a 10 yard TD pass with 3:35 to go in the game, but by the time the Seahawks scored it was too late. Smith went 31/44 for 238 yards and led a TD drive that made things interesting at the end of the fourth quarter, but the Niners lead was never really in jeopardy. San Fran would sit back and let their defense take control, as they kept Geno Smith in check. The Niners got the ball back after the halftime break, and two plays into the third quarter Purdy hit a wide open George Kittle for a 54 yard TD connection that would essentially seal the game. Niners in, Seahawks need a Wild Card spot McCaffery ran the ball 26 times for 108 yards and added another 30 yards receiving. The Niners would go on to punt, but with under a minute to go in the half Dre Greenlaw popped the ball out of Travis Homer’s hands and Jimmie Ward scooped the fumble and returned it to the Seattle 6 yard line.Ĭhristian McCaffery got a heavy dose of the ball on Thursday night, and at the end of the first half he got his pay dirt just two plays after the fumble with a one yard TD run right before the half. On the next possession, Purdy could have, and should have been picked off Quandre Diggs, but the defensive back saw the ball bounce off his hands and fall incomplete. They forced Seattle in to three straight three and outs before Geno Smith and the offense finally found themselves in a position to kick a field goal with under five to go in the first half. San Fran’s defense looked as vicious as ever in Seattle. SF defense with another game changing play The Niners got on the board first late in the first quarter when Purdy orchestrated an 88 yard TD drive that was polished off with a 28 yard catch and run from a wide open George Kittle. He was on the road, in a hostile environment against a division rival, and he silenced the 12th man at Lumen Field from the very start while looking like a seasoned vet. Purdy, no doubt, heard these murmurs, so what did he do? He went 11/11 to start the game. Since then all we have heard in the media is whether or not Brock Purdy was for real. He started last week against Tom Brady and the stingy Tampa Bay defense and picked the secondary them apart in the win over the Bucs. Purdy was thrown into the game early against the Dolphins two weeks ago and led the Niners to victory. Rookie QB Brock Purdy threw for 217 yards and two touchdowns in the 21-13 win in his first start on the road. The San Francisco 49ers punched their ticket to the playoffs while securing the NFC West title in their convincing road win over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night.
